I had to wait until the temperatures dipped out of the 40s, even the 30s (Celsius), for Baron Hasselhoff’s Tea and Chocolate Tasting Set to arrive from New Zealand. It brings together 8 pairings of Baron Hasselhoff’s craft chocolate and Libertine Blends organic teas, each chosen to highlight the quiet magic that happens when tea and chocolate combine.

The Roxy Black tea with the Drunk’n Donuts chocolate (with cinnamon and rum) was an unexpected surprise. The Cacao Chai and the Viva Frida chocolate, one of my favourite bars ever (almonds, chipotle, cinnamon and chilli…yum), is so good. Minty tea with cardamon chocolate is just the perfect combo.

I asked why the Baron chose a tea pairing over, for example, something a little stronger. His people (founders Clayton McErlane and Erin Todd), shared this response:

“Tea is a slower grounding experience. After all his travels and adventures the Baron really needs to slow down, unwind & meditate with flavour. Unlike most barons, he does not go in for the stronger stuff unless calamity befalls, in which case a whiskey can be medicinal. “

And thanks for including enough for two cups of tea. I’m guessing it was so I could share it with a friend, but I’m not. It means I get to enjoy each pairing twice myself.
